Denise and John Richter will be pairing up with another family for this outreach opportunity centered in Nairobi, Kenya. The group will serve in the Mukuru and Kibera slum communities with Sports Outreach's team local team. The trip will focus on relational community development through SOI’s faith-based programs (chess, sports, education, fashion institute, and discipleship training) with an emphasis on hands on engagement and leadership. In Kibera, the team will spend time at Sports Outreach's transform Center and the Miracle and Victory Children's Centre engaging in some of the activities shared below.
- devotions with the staff daily
- engaging in soccer, chess, and basketball sessions with kids of all ages
- participating in drawing and arts sessions with kids
- assisting with food preparations and serving porridge and/or lunch to children in local schools
- spending time in conversation and prayer with families connected to the ministry

Requirements
Prerequisites
- An active passport good for at least SIX MONTHS beyond the return date (September 16, 2026)
- A Kenya entry authorization (eTA) - exact details to be provided one month prior to travel
- Meet with your local physician/PCP regarding possible travel vaccinations necessary for travel. SOI offers guidance based on the the recommendations of the CDC. Preparation
- Complete the Application and provide $300 nonrefundable deposit.
- Raise remaining trip funds.
- OPTIONAL: raise additional funds to provide library materials and art supplies as a gift to the ministry.
