The crowd filled the Chicago terminal to capacity. Our flight to Amsterdam was on one of Boing’s big boys. I scanned the crowd of faces seeing 15-20 black suited collared priests and many young people but it wasn’t until 5 minutes before our flight that I met the team. Names were quickly spouted out when it was time to board.
6 hours later groggy-eyed we met again in the Netherlands at the Amsterdam. As the team migrated to an alcove near our departure gate some laid down, some played cards while I set up a Spikeball set. You may be asking, “Can you play Spikeball in the Netherlands capital’s airport?” Well the answer is a resounding, “yes!”
That fun fact will come in handy during our 3 hour layover!

Our trip was extraordinary and personally impacting. The Hope College leaders, Matt, Dave, and Joni, gave enough autonomy to the students for personal discovery, providing water filters and the gospel to thousands of students and families with little or no access to either.
The SOI staff in Uganda has invested wisely in kingdom relationships.Every where I went either in the slums of Kampala or in remote communities in Gulu I was greeted with “you are most welcome”. And I felt most welcome.
